Aruba Networks declares the LAN is dead!

We just got back from the Aruba Networks Partner Conference in San Jose, California this week and have lots to share with our customers.  Aruba has annoucned several new products, my favorite is the "Aruba Instant" series.  For smaller deployments, we no longer need a controller to provision and control access points.  The new products in the "instant" line are as follows: Aruba IAP-105, IAP-92 and the IAP-93.

This class of AP's combines enterprise wireless with the simplicity and affordability of entry level wireless.  At the conference we watched an Aruba engineer configure the AP in less than three minutes!  The Virtual Controller technology in Aruba Instant delivers enterprise-grade capabilities such as AP auto discovery, 802.1X authentication, role- and device-based policy enforcement, rogue detection and Adaptive Radio Management (ARM), which optimizes Wi-Fi client behavior by making sure that APs stay clear of RF interference.

The other neat feature of these AP's is that they can be converted to standard AP's at any time by pointing them to the IP address of a known controller.  If you decide to flip them back to "Instant" AP's just press the reset switch on the back and the AP will reboot and be running as an "Instant" AP.

A Single “Virtual Controller” Can Manage 16 Access Points
